Soo cute, but I'm curious too.....what do they do? How do you care for her?

Awwww Lila reminds me of my grade 3 class hedgehog pets Stinky and Fatso I also love going to New Zealand because at night, hedgehogs come out of the bushes at my relatives house and walk around.

One girl from school mom used to breed and sell hedgehogs and they just had them in a cage with lots of space and wood shavings in the cage. They got a little hamster wheel, water drip system, and dry kibble.

here we go.. just going to paste this from my AF post. lol.

they are actually really easy to take care of - we got her a 4'x2' cage that's HUGE and really more space than she needs. she has a wheel that she runs on every night and provides her with the exercise she needs. we handle her everyday and i'll even take her out on errands with me in her fleece sleeping bag.

she eats.. catch this... cat food! i have been slowly getting her off the food that she was fed by the breeder and starting her on Wellness, which is really high quality. she also eats meal worms and crickets as a snack. (only store bought ones, outside crickets could be near pesticides etc).

i give her a bath every couple days, it takes no time at all and she likes walking around in the water. i use johnson and johnson's baby shampoo which is no more tears and won't hurt her eyes. rinse well, put hedgie in fluffy towel and ... viola! clean hedgie.

she is really affectionate and loves nuzzling into hair, necks, up pant / jean legs, etc. she honestly likes being warm a lot, so that's really soothing to her. sometimes, i'll have her in her sleeping bag on my tummy and reach my hand in.. she'll come over to sniff me, then cuddle up against my hand.

they ARE actually possible to pet. they raise their quills if they're scared, otherwise they lie down flat. just go the direction that the quills grow. btw, they aren't like a porcupine where their quills are barbed, they just have quills. they DO grow in new ones from time to time, which is called "quilling".

post here with anymore questions and i'll answer them the best i can.

ps.. something really cool? you can LITTER BOX train them. she has a litter box in one of the corners of her cage and she goes in that!

www.hedgehogcentral.com has a TON of info on them, so if any of you are interested in getting one, do some research and see what you think!

Jen, she will explore but with the dogs out she is really scared of them. Chewie is more scared of her than she is of him, but Endo wants to pick her up in her mouth. >.> i'm not sure why... something spikey in my mouth? no thanks :P we are going to get her a hamster ball for exploring in, then she can wander around with that as protection somewhat. we'll put the dogs away when she's in it, of course. as far as a video, when i get my Instinct, i can take one of those. you guys will love her!

wow can you buy themin a petstore ? Here inbelgium we call them a egel and they are a bit bigger brown but we cant buy´themin a store they are protected over here
